If you’ve de-cluttered and de-personalized your Virginia Beach home for sale and it’s left you feeling a little blank, we’ve got some tips to help you add a little fall color while still keeping your home neutral and buyer friendly.

Throw down a colorful rug. If you live near the beach, your home is probably tracking in a lot of sand. A bright throw rug will not only add a splash of color to your ocean front home, but will trap any incoming grit.

Add some fresh flowers. A pot of mums adds a gorgeous splash of bright color and looks equally as nice on your front porch as it does on your kitchen counter.
Show off the local flavor. A bowl full of fresh fruits or vegetables (preferably from a nearby farm stand) does two things; it adds a splash of bright color and alerts potential home buyers to neighborhood character.
Add some accents. Virginia Beach homeowners have the good fortune of living within a few minutes or a few miles of oceanfront attractions. A cleverly placed beach-style accent here and there will remind potential homebuyers of this remarkable feature.
These are all great tricks for making your home more visually appealing but don’t overlook the way your house smells. The olfactory nerve is the one most closely tied to memory so make sure your home hits the right notes.  A number of candle companies have replicated the smell of fall treats like pumpkin pie and apple cobbler but the best scent of all is clean. Scrub your house down the day before a showing and you’ll be able to dash out the door with nothing more than a quick spritz.
