Virginia is a native of Norfolk and a graduate of Granby High School. When she was eighteen she was the Virginia State Tennis champion in both singles and doubles. She continues her love of tennis to this day. She received a degree in Art History from Sweet Briar College and has taught Art History in both elementary and high school, as well as to adult groups. She has been a docent for many years at various museums including the Chrysler Museum, Norfolk, VA; the Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; the Neuberger Museum, Westchester County, NY; the Bayly Art Museum, Charlottesville, VA; and the Fine Arts Center, Roanoke, VA.
Virginia lived in all of the above places with her husband, Lee, a retired lawyer and corporate executive, and their four sons, all now grown. During the period from 1973 to 1984, when they returned to Norfolk, the Kitchins lived in six houses. Virginia knows well the pains and rewards of moving a family from place to place.
While raising her children, Virginia was active in The Junior League, Cub Scouts (den leader many times), PTA, various arts groups, and, she accompanied her children to their many sports and other activities. Now that same energy, hard work, and attention is directed toward her real estate career.
